Speaker Profile - Beau

Beau is our Schools Coordinator and is responsible for organising talks as well as being an accomplished speaker himself. Before joining British Exploring he studied Geography at the University of Exeter and went on his own travels around South America. During his travels he sought to push himself out of his comfort zone. This included volunteering on an organic cacao farm in the Atlantic Rainforest in Brazil. His days there were spent waking up with the sun every day, living simply amongst the breath taking nature and away from all modern luxuries.

On his return he was drawn to British Exploring for its focus on development through its philosophy of ‘adventure with a purpose’ and its programme of adventure, science and media. He joined in 2014 as Communications Assistant and spent the summer of 2015 as an Assistant Leader on the Peruvian Amazon expedition.

Beau's talk feedback

"Beau gave an inspirational talk on the British Exploring Society and the summer expeditions of 2016. The students were fascinated to learn about the expeditions and Beau’s first hand experience. Some students have already applied for a life changing experience with BES. I would highly recommend Beau as a speaker – he engages the audience, is very personable and knowledgeable."
- Head of Geography, Latymer Upper School, London

"Beau’s talk was good, in that it was very natural and relaxed and did not go on for too long! You were very good at answering the questions that were put to you, and students could really understand the experiences you had had on your travels."
- Tutor, Hills Road Sixth Form College, Cambridge

Our talk feedback

"British Exploring's talk was truly inspiring. The work of British Exploring has motivated some of our youngsters to look at the opportunity of being involved with the organisation. It was refreshing to have a speaker who talked with such passion about the organisation.

I would recommend British Exploring to any school. We will be asking them to come back next year to talk to our Lower Sixth Form students."
- Head of Sixth Form at the City of London Freemen's School
