Duke of Edinburgh Award

British Exploring is an Approved Activity Provider (AAP) for the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. This means that we are licensed to facilitate young people with the opportunity to complete their Residential sections of their Gold Award.

Who can do this?
Anyone. As long as you are aged between 16-24 years old you are eligible.

Do I need to have done Duke of Edinburgh before? No, anyone can start.

What‘s in it for me?
Develop your skills in camp craft, trekking and scientific research. Achieve the Residential element of the Duke of Edinburgh award that is internationally recognised by employers, colleges and universities.

Where can I do the Duke of Edinburgh award?
You can complete the award on our expeditions. In 2017 you will have the opportunity to explore and trek through the jungles of the Peruvian Amazon, ascend the extreme mountain ranges of Ladakh on our expedition to the Indian Himalayas or Kayak and Trek the emense wilderness of the Canadian Yukon.

What does British Exploring do?
The sections of the Gold Award are divided as follows:
Physical section, Volunteer section, Expedition and Skills section (complete with your local Licensed organisation)
Residential section of the Gold Award – complete with us on your expedition.

The John Muir Trust

The John Muir Trust is the leading UK Conservation Charity dedicated to protecting wild land and wild places for their own sake. They own and care for some of the finest landscapes in the UK including Ben Nevis.

The trust takes its inspiration from a founder of the modern conservation movement: John Muir. Founded in 1983; the volunteers lend their voice to help defend wilderness regions at home and abroad: “Everybody needs beauty…where nature may heal and give strength to body and soul alike.” The Yosemite

They also aim to educate people through the John Muir Award to encourage awareness and responsibility for the natural environment in the spirit of adventure and exploration. Through your expedition you can earn your "Explorer Level" award.
