Welcome to the Indian Himalayas expedition blog. Here you will find all the updates from the expedition as and when they are received. Please be aware that there will not be an update every single day and that this blog will be the first place that any updates are shared, so make sure you check back in for updates and save this page in your bookmarks.
Today is the expeditions final full day in basecamp and they will be heading back towards Leh tomorrow for a well earned shower
The teams are in base camp preparing for their final tour!
Team update: Our 3-week Fires have now returned safely to the UK. The teams remaining in the Himalayas have been trekking and exploring the glaciers. The team camped at a beautiful spot at 5300m and are attempting to reach 5920m today.
Leader update: All well, everyone happy and healthy. All Fires have left basecamp and are excited about trekking up to 5100m and establishing a camp up in the valley.
Chief Leader update: the expedition has been fantastic so far, weather great, leader team superb, science being implemented, training walks undertaken, lots of laughter and enjoyment, bivvy under the stars last night, Fires gelling really nicely!
Team update: Exciting update from the expedition team out in the Himalayas. Members of the team had an opportunity to see the Dalai Lama speak at a public event over the weekend.
Rohtang Fire update: The team are acclimatising well to the altitude and have set-up camp on a beautiful meadow.
Chief Leader update: The whole team have arrived safely in India and have been enjoying exploring Leh despite the heat.
Our nonstop week of buying, packing, sorting and planning is drawing to close as we depart at 6.00 am tomorrow 28 July for a short two hour drive to a campsite on the banks of the Indus. As a bonus, we hope to stop off to join the crowds listening to the Dali Lama. Tonight, we will be enjoying a talk from Dr Tsang an Amchi at the hostel.
