About the film

How do British Exploring Society expeditions help shape young people’s confidence, resilience, and sense of belonging – both in the wild and back home?

Filmed on location in each young person’s hometown, We Belong Here is an emotive documentary that charts the journey of four young people, a year after their adventures with us.

Together, each young person explores with their families how their experiences have since shaped their decisions and attitudes.

As a charity, We want equal access to challenging learning and adventure in the wilderness as an unbeatable preparation for adult life.

This film and it’s Two-Story Edit were produced with the kind support of the Stelios Philanthropic Foundation and Patron, Nigel Vardy.

A night on the ‘red carpet’ isn’t what most Young Explorers expect when they return from expedition, but for Ali, Ellie, Naffie & Rahim, it was the perfect way to celebrate and recognise their contributions to our inspiring new film, We Belong Here.

Generously hosted by our enthusiastic and hugely supportive friends at the Stelios Philanthropic Foundation, the event in November brought together people from across our community.

‘It was truly inspiring to hear the stories of Ali, Ellie, Naffie, and Rahim, and reminded me that I have absolutely made the right choice in supporting British Exploring Society’
