Information for parents, carers, families and social workers
This Adventure takes British Exploring Society’s unique approach, based around Adventure, Knowledge and Personal Development, to the northern most remote corner of Scotland’s spectacular west coast.
You’ll learn how to travel confidently by canoe, navigate on land and water, work as a team, and develop essential campcraft skills as you adventure between remote wild campsites. Surrounded by towering peaks, ancient woodlands, and pristine waters, you’ll experience nature at its most inspiring. Keep an eye out for red deer, golden eagles, otters, and other incredible wildlife as you explore one of Scotland’s most beautiful and remote landscapes.
Whilst this is a complete and self-contained activity, it may also act as a stepping stone onto future adventures and our full-scale expedition programmes.
No paddling experience is required however you need to be confident around water to participate in this Adventure.
Please note you must be a British citizen or UK resident to join one of our programmes.
It grew my social skills, fitness, care for the environment and self-awareness...

Led by experts, the programme has been designed to take you out of your comfort zone in a challenging yet safe environment, with a real focus on the skills and personal development you will gain from the experience. The safety and support of our Young Adventurers is the cornerstone on which we build and develop our programmes, from conception through to departure and return.
The vast majority of young people return from our programmes and expeditions with a wealth of new-found practical skills, new friends-for-life and a real sense of personal development – all of which can have tangible benefits for the future.
It doesn't matter where your starting point is; you'll return with more confidence in your own abilities; greater resilience, determination and courage - and a sense of self-belief that will stay with you for life.
