Charlie's Arch to Arc Fundraising Challenge

By British Exploring Society,

Meet Charlie, a Member of British Exploring Society.

He joined us as a Young Explorer on expedition to Svalbard in 2010. Reflecting on the experience, he describes it as his “turning point”. Since then, he’s gone on to overcome challenge after challenge, and this last weekend marked his latest outdoor adventure.

In support of British Exploring Society and Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice, Charlie and his friend Kyri have just completed the gruelling and incredible challenge of running, swimming and cycling from London to Paris in just under 70 hours.

What does the Arch to Arc Challenge involve?

  • 87 mile run from Marble Arch in London to Dover
  • A 21 mile swim from Dover to Calais
  • 181 mile cycle from Calais to the Arc Triomphe in Paris

Scroll down to see a few photos from their challenge, and head over to their Instagram page for more.

At the time of writing, Charlie and Kyri have so far raised just over £6,600 to be shared between British Exploring Society and Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice.

Funds like these are instrumental in supporting us to deliver transformative experiences for young people. We are incredibly appreciative of Charlie rising to meet this challenge on our behalf, and thankful to everyone who has supported his and Kyri’s campaign so far.

If you’d like to help these inspiring fundraisers to take their total higher, please show your appreciation of their long-distance efforts by donating to their campaign using the button below.

“Having been fortunate to attend a British Exploring Society expedition to Svalbard in 2010, I found it gave me an appreciation for the great outdoors as well as a sense of purpose, identity and community... This opportunity was invaluable to me and a turning point in identifying what I value and giving me the confidence to seek out further challenges... British Exploring Society provides an incredible opportunity that I think every young person would benefit from and I am incredibly proud to be fundraising for them.”
