This Adventure Week takes British Exploring Society’s unique approach, based around Adventure, Knowledge and Personal Development, to Dartmoor National Park. It’s one of two Adventure Weeks that we run in the UK.
A wild-camping expedition on Dartmoor places you in the centre of vast hills and flowing rivers. You will have the chance to develop navigation and survival skills in one of the UK’s most untamed landscapes, where the beauty of the wild is paired with challenges to develop your resilience and teamwork. Experience true adventure as you trek through open terrain, camp in the wilderness, and learn about Dartmoor’s rich ecology under the expansive starry night sky.
Whilst this is a complete and self-contained activity, it may also act as a stepping stone onto future adventures and our full-scale expedition programmes.
Please note you must be a British citizen or UK resident to join one of our programmes.
It was truly an unexpected and incredible journey for me...

Led by experts, the programme has been designed to take you out of your comfort zone in a challenging yet safe environment, with a real focus on the skills and personal development you will gain from the experience. The safety and support of our Young Adventurers is the cornerstone on which we build and develop our programmes, from conception through to departure and return.
The vast majority of young people return from our programmes and expeditions with a wealth of new-found practical skills, new friends-for-life and a real sense of personal development – all of which can have tangible benefits for the future.
It doesn't matter where your starting point is; you'll return with more confidence in your own abilities; greater resilience, determination and courage - and a sense of self-belief that will stay with you for life.
